Be Careful.

Proper prep & aftercare is crucial for the longevity and appearance of your new tattoo. Follow these simple steps to ensure your next tattoo appointment is a success!

Before Your Appointment

1. **Hydrate Well:**
   - Drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment to keep your skin hydrated, which aids in the tattooing process.

2. **Get a Good Night's Sleep:**
   - Ensure you're well-rested the night before to help manage pain and discomfort during the tattoo session.

3. **Eat a Nutritious Meal:**
   - Have a balanced meal before your appointment to maintain energy levels and prevent lightheadedness or fainting during the tattooing process. Don't be afraid to bring a snack to the studio, if you are feeling any sort of dizziness or nausea speak up and we can take a snack break.

4. **Avoid Alcohol and Blood Thinners:**
   - Refrain from consuming alcohol and medications that thin the blood, such as aspirin or ibuprofen, as they can increase bleeding and make the tattooing process more difficult.

5. **Shower and Clean Skin:**
   - Take a shower and clean the area where you'll be getting tattooed. Avoid applying lotions or oils to the skin to ensure proper adhesion of the stencil. DO NOT SHAVE BEFORE YOUR APPOINTMENT, this can lead to irritated skin the following day.

6. **Entertainment:**   - Nobody likes to be bored, bring your headphones, a movie on your phone, or a book to keep yourself busy on longer sessions!

7. **Numbing Cream:**
   -
If you think you will need numbing cream, ask before your appointment to avoid last-minute complications, as numbing products can affect the healing process.

8. **Communicate with Your Artist:**   - Discuss any concerns or questions with your tattoo artist before starting the session. Ensure you both understand the design, placement, and any specific instructions for aftercare.

The Essentials For Aftercare

1. **Leave the Sani-Derm On:**
   - Keep the initial bandage on for 3-7 days or as per the artists instructions to protect the tattoo from contaminants.

After the recommended time period has passed, remove the Sani-Derm by slowly peeling at 180 degrees adjacent with the skin... its not a race, be gentle.

2. **Wash Gently:**
   - Use a mild, fragrance-free soap to gently clean the tattoo. Pat dry with a clean towel.

3. **Apply Thin Ointment:**
   - After cleaning, apply a thin layer of recommended tattoo ointment to keep it hydrated.

4. **Avoid Tight Clothing:**
   - Wear loose, breathable clothing to prevent irritation and allow the tattoo to breathe.

5. **Skip Sun Exposure:**
   - Protect the tattoo from direct sunlight to prevent fading and damage.

6. **No Excessive Water Exposure Or Sweating:**
   - Avoid pools, hot tubs, and open water until the tattoo is fully healed to prevent infection. Working out and sweating is not recommended for the first 3-7 days.

7. **Resist Itching:**
   - Refrain from scratching; pat the area gently if needed.

8. **Stay Hydrated and Patient:**
   - Drink water for internal hydration and be patient during the 2-4 week healing process.
